In a small celebration at Waltham Forest College, Hope in Haringey’s mentoring team was on hand to congratulate a cohort of young people taking the steps forward to start their careers.

Inducted as a cohort of young people not in education, employment or training, the group collaborated with Hope in Haringey via the Prince’s Trust to help establish good habits through HiH’s Mentoring provision.
The scheme which has been working since 2020, regularly sees cohorts of young people take up a mentor as they build confidence and figure out what career is right for them.
This year, Hope in Haringey worked with Team Leader Heaven Yemane and Assistant Team Leader, Jo Kirk to develop the young people and help them find their feet.
Having engaged with a number of young people over the six months, Hope in Haringey are pleased to report that four have elected to extend their engagement, electing to continue as HiH mentees. With Mentors experienced in industries such as IT, construction, psychology, health and social care, whatever the young people choose to do, they will be supported.
As part of HiH’s employability mentoring provision, these young people will be paired with a volunteer mentor for at least 6 months. Trained in Solutions-focused mentoring techniques, the Mentor will work with their young person to identify challenges and goals which they will seek to overcome and accomplish together.
