Liz Morris

Mentoring Trustee

Liz has been deeply committed to improving the life chances of young people in Haringey for many years. As a local councillor from 2014 to 2022, she held senior leadership positions, including Group Leader and Spokesperson for Children and Education. During her tenure, she campaigned to prevent the closure of children’s centres and was involved with several in-depth scrutiny reviews of Haringey’s children’s services, ensuring continued service improvements for young people.

Beyond her work in local government, Liz has been a dedicated school governor at a local school in Highgate for 11 years and currently serves as Deputy Chair of Governors. She has chaired several committees, including Curriculum, Safeguarding and Communications advocating for high-quality education and student well-being.

Liz also has a strong interest in urban planning. As a councillor, she sat on Haringey’s Planning Committee and co-chairs the Highgate Society Planning Committee, working to preserve Highgate’s historic environment and shape its future.

As the Mentor Trustee at Hope in Haringey, Liz’s role is to support HIH’s mentoring team and mentoring programmes – and she also helps recruit new mentors. A fully trained mentor herself, she actively supports young people, guiding them towards further education and employment opportunities.

A proud Haringey resident for 20 years, Liz lives with her husband and two daughters and remains deeply invested in the community’s future.
