Hope in Haringey announces changes to its staff lineup for the 2024-25 academic year with a new Counselling and Operations Officer. The role promises to deepen HiH’s commitment to the Haringey African Schools Partnership and also support HiH Counselling in the interim following manager Caroline Ajuna’s departure.
Hope in Haringey has appointed City University postgraduate, Tom May, as its Counselling and Operations Officer following the departure of long-serving Counselling Manager, Caroline Ajuna.
Tom, who studied International Politics at HiH’s tertiary educational partner, joins the charity to work closely with the Director, expand the charity’s capacity and lead on the operation of the Haringey African Schools Partnership.
Having recently completed his dissertation on the impact of French and Chinese policy and practice in West Africa, Tom brings a deep passion for the partnership, Africa’s young people and diasporans looking to make a change. It is these passions that HiH believe will mobilise him and the partnership going forward following the Educational Symposium later this month.
His role will also encompass a supporting element to the Counselling Project following the departure of Caroline Ajuna. Caroline, who saw the charity grow out of St Ann’s Church offices into its new base at The Trampery in 2018, has moved on to pursue new professional interests after almost 8 years with the Tottenham–based organisation.
On Caroline’s departure, Chair of Trustees, Jeff Skinner said: “Caroline has been an integral part of our organization for many years, and her contributions have been invaluable. Her dedication, passion, and commitment to our cause have significantly impacted the work we do, and her absence will undoubtedly be felt by all of us. On behalf of John Stevenson and my fellow Trustees, want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to Caroline for her years of loyal service. She has been a guiding force within our team, and her leadership and expertise have been a mainstay of our operations and a massive force for stability and growth. We wish her nothing but success and happiness in her future endeavours.”
