Hope in Haringey’s oldest core programme will see several strategic upgrades implemented this month as it initiates plans to start 2026 on the front foot.

Hope in Haringey hosted their annual Counsellors Professional Development Day, this time at West Lodge Park following sponsorship from JD Sports.

Seventeen members of the Tottenham-based charity’s Counselling Team attended the event, allowing the day to be used for upskilling and strategizing for 2026 between the counsellors, clinical supervisors, and one of the ICB Commissioners (NHS).

Designed to support the sharing of good practice, impact and assessment reporting, and improving management of the project, HiH used the day to further upskill its highly qualified therapeutic counselling team so that their short-term deployment can be even more impactful.

On the day, Counselling Manager Thomas May said: “it has been incredibly useful to align the entire counselling team on management’s strategic vision for the department in 2026.”

Emphasising how the charity tracks its impact, part of the training day was used to help prepare the team for the upcoming implementation of SDQs, CORS and CYCLOPS digital data collection methods.

Designed to assist counsellors in recording the impact of their work faster and more efficiently, Counselling Manager, Thomas May hopes that this new reporting, impact and assessment tools will bring forward the programme’s reporting date from October, closer to the financial year end in April.

Counsellors were also updated on expansions to the programme, with new capacity at Dukes Aldridge Academy being announced as well as a new volunteer joining to assist the programme at CONEL.

After the day, one of HiH’s counsellors described the CPD day as a “really good [way] to connect with yourselves and the other counsellors”.
