Our joint venture with Sister System, the Haringey African Schools Partnership (HASP) is celebrating this week as letters from Harris Academy Tottenham have arrived.

The partnership, which announced the embarkation of its pen pal scheme during the Educational Symposium in September saw the first letters arrive safely in Uganda this week.
The arrival of the letters came just as the Buntaba Primary School students returned from their midterm break, with the entire school gathering around to witness the occasion. Speaking with Buntaba P.S. Headteacher, Sarah Mugisha, she captured the mood of the occasion by describing it as “they were excited to say the least”.
Ever since joining the partnership, Buntaba has been keen to showcase its sense of community and civic pride, with its symposium video showcasing the resilience and tenacity each student demonstrates simply by coming to school.
Whilst this project seeks to improve both sets of students’ literacy skills, the immediate effects hope to see both groups become more familiar and friendly. This is because the founding Ambassador of the Haringey African Schools Partnership and former Executive Director of the Kampala Capital City Authority, Jennifer Musisi has invited HATO to Buntaba for a literacy camp in Summer 2025.
