Hope in Haringey and Emmanuel Emueje will part ways this month after a successful 8-month internship with the charity as he starts a dream career in Policing

By Omar Alleyne-Lawler, Communications and Police Engagement Manager

Emmanuel’s journey with Hope in Haringey began back in February 2023 when he joined its Media Mentor project at Harris Academy Tottenham. Hand-picked by his Head of Year 12, he and 18 others joined a HiH delivered schools-based, work training and experience project. Earmarked for their talent in the creative fields, work ethic and academic performance, these students served to evidence the willingness of Tottenham’s young people for work.

Emmanuel would graduate from this project after a 6-month training period having learned core techniques around graphic design, audio-visual production, copywriting, advertising, web development and digital marketing roles.

Emmanuel leaves HiH to start a dream career at the British Transport Police

Yet his journey with the charity was not over. With an internship available for one student, Emmanuel would be the deserving awardee. Impressing both HiH management and HATO staff, Emmanuel was chosen based on his academic and training performance, positive attitude and leadership qualities.

Joining as the dedicated Haringey African Schools Partnership Communications Officer, Emmanuel would spend 8 months in this role; building the HASP website and assisting in the delivery of the upcoming Educational Symposium in September.

With the new academic year starting, Emmanuel will be leaving Hope in Haringey to start a dream career in the British Transport Police.

On his experience with HiH, Emmanuel said “Since joining my most joyous endeavour has been creating the HASP website. It has been very satisfying to turn a blank canvas into something that represents the Haringey African Schools Partnership. I am jealous of whoever comes in to work on the website next, as they’ll be able to develop the website with new tools [and] also see the partnership move at a much more accelerated pace as our HASP schools step up their contribution efforts.”

Reflecting on his time here, Trainer turned Manager, Omar Alleyne-Lawler said; “It has been a pleasure working with Emmanuel. He has gone from being a student to a trusted and valuable team member in less than two years which is a testament to his abilities and work ethic. Thanks to his success here, we will continue to work closely with HATO, developing their students into work-ready young people and giving them opportunities to thrive. We wish Emmanuel the best and hope to work with him again in future.”
